NFL Preseason Probabilities – Texans Still Attempting to Break Through

NFL preseason odds will again have the Houston Texans preferred in NFL bets to make the post season for the first time in team history in spite of a tradition of NFL wagering disappointments.

NFL odds odds makers remain frustrated with a Houston team that has often been erratic and one of the most sporadic commodities in all of NFL wagering.

Last year the Texans entered the season with high anticipations and were supposed to ultimately make that 1st ever evasive playoff bid. However Houston fumbled out of the gate with a 1-4 straight up track record and ran out of time to recuperate while concluding 9-7 straight up and 7-7-2 vs the spread.

Houston had a bizarre offense that finished fourth in total in the NFL for total yards and tenth for scoring. The Texans were the leading rated passing squad in the NFL but rated 30th on the ground.

Quarterback Matt Schaub finished with a QB rating of 98.6 with 4770 passing yards and a 29/15 touchdown to interception ratio. He will be entering his 7th NFL season and sixth as a starter. Matt Schaub was a third round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He was acquired by the Houston Texans in 2007 as part of a handle the Falcons to swap draft picks. The Texans released David Carr the same year, which led to Schaub becoming their starter.

Running back continues to be a serious concern for Houston coming into summer camp as they must progress in that aspect of the game in order to take heat off the passing game as well as keep opposing offenses off the field.

Arian Foster will enter camp as the starter after a formidable finish to last season and Steve Slaton will offer a strong challenge as he returns after surgery for a neck injury. There will also be contest at the place kicking position between Kris Brown and Neil Rackers, who have been even thus far in their duel.

Gary Kubiak, the Texans head coach, Wagering success, though he was pleased with the spring workouts. As reported by the coach, he explained to them that they’ve had a great month and were going to move away somewhat. He went on to add that They’ve been striving to make the playoffs for 4 years and this is the year they must accomplish it.

Frank Bush, the defensive coordinator, has been pleased with his veteran players’ direction. Houston ranked 17th over all in the NFL for points allowed and 13th total for total defense. Those are numbers that must progress for the playoffs to be feasible.

At this point, the Houston Texans is the only existing squad in each of the 4 major professional sports leagues that has yet to play in the postseason. It is a dubious track record that the Texans will definitely be trying to break this coming season.
